Placenta encapsulation for Weber County

Utah Placenta Encapsulation is Utah’s premier encapsulation specialists, helping you have a happy postpartum period.

Each person’s needs are different after giving birth and their placenta provides them the specific benefits based on the physical needs of the individual person’s body. During and after a normal vaginal delivery (including postpartum bleeding) a birthing person can lose up to 1/10 of their body’s blood supply. With surgical births or hemorrhage, blood loss can be significantly more.  Losing a large amount of blood so quickly can cause anemia, leaving you feeling tired, faint and exhausted when you are already going to be up at all hours with a newborn baby. The blood needs high supplies of iron to carry oxygen to the cells for healing and energy. Low supplies of oxygen leave your cells starving and less able to heal after trauma. The most modern and noninvasive way to consume the placenta is placenta encapsulation.

The most important nutrients found in rich supply in the placenta include Stem Cells and Growth Factors such as:

Iron – essential for oxygen absorption in the cells.
Vitamins B6 and B12 – aids in the making of antibodies and provides extra energy.
Vitamin E – for healing damaged skin cells.
Oxytocin hormone – essential for facilitating birth and breastfeeding.
Cytokines – Fibroblasts that trigger cell metabolism healing and replacing damaged cells and tissue.
Corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) – responsible for reducing stress levels.

During pregnancy a person’s body carries an increased amount of hormones, when the baby is born those hormone levels that sustained a pregnancy dramatically decrease around the third or fourth day postpartum. This is referred to as the hormonal drop off. Research suggests that this event is responsible for baby blues and postpartum mood disorders. The placenta contains all of those hormones that were flowing through the body during pregnancy and can benefit you by providing a gentle gradual decrease in hormone levels instead of that dramatic drop off.

Taking placenta pills has also shown to support milk production, aid in a positive breastfeeding experience for you and baby, and also may help reduce the length of time of postpartum bleeding.

Depending on the size of the placenta and the method used for encapsulation, you can expect to get 80-200 pills that you can take as long as you need during your postpartum period!

Placenta Encapsulation Methods

The Raw Method

• Consists of thoroughly cleaning your placenta, delicately slicing it into thin pieces, dehydrating it, gently grinding it up, and carefully placing into capsules.
• The Raw Method has been said to be more potent than the Traditional Chinese Method.
• The Raw Method tends to yield more pills than the Traditional Chinese Method.
• Pills from the Raw Method will only last one year in the freezer.

Traditional Chinese Method (TCM)

• Consists of thoroughly cleaning your placenta, steaming it, delicately slicing it into thin pieces, dehydrating it, gently grinding it up, and carefully placing into capsules.
• We do NOT use any herbs in our steaming process.
• The water from the steaming process can be consumed and is referred to as Mother’s Broth.

“TCM is all about creating a balance in the body, and different conditions are considered “hot” or “cold”. For example, a cold can produce a fever, which is an excess of heat. Therefore, the treatment would be something that has a cooling effect on the body. But in TCM, postnatal women are considered to have an excess of cold in the body. In China, new mothers are discouraged from eating cold food or drinks, or even from taking a shower lest it create an additional chill. She is only given warm foods and foods that have a warming effect on her system, for at least the first 30-40 days postpartum.

Raw placenta will have a cooling effect on her system, throwing her even further out of balance. Prepared or cooked placenta (steamed is preferable, as steaming is the most gentle way to cook something and retain the most nutrients in the food) is the most preferable way of ingesting placenta for postpartum women. It will have a warming effect on her system, bringing her more quickly into balance.”

I used my pills as needed when I noticed I was getting emotional often and they helped keep me feeling up. And I could just rave about my Healing Salve. My baby is pretty chunky and had some red/rawness way up under her chin. After using the salve for just 1 day it’s almost completely gone!
